Site Upgrades

Well I know I said that I’d have all sorts of things done, when I moved this web site, onto its new host. But I just don’t seem to have had the time.

Tonight I’ve managed to upgrade wordpress to v2.1, and after recommendations from Al Rainsbury I’ve gone with the K2 theme. I’ve picked the vader K2 theme to start with, until I can create something better!

Over the next few days I’ll hopefully get around to sorting everything else out….hopefully!

Parties

Well I’m not feeling that well at the moment, as I’m suffering from consuming large amounts of ale last night. Last night things where a bit hectic as I had 2 different parties to attend…which is always fun in one night!

The first party was a joint 18th Birthday party held at the Conservative Club in Marple, for Jenny Lamb and Charlotte Ashdown. It’s scary how long I’ve known these 2 girls, as I taught both of them to swim many years ago at Marple Swimming Club. The girls insisted that everyone be in fancy dress (with a theme of musicals), so along with Jon Bintliff, we went as the Blues Brothers. Network made a typically impressive entrance as they arrived in their costumes as Jesus and his 12 disciples (with John Twit as Jesus!). After several pints and after annoying many of the younger rangers, it was time to move on to the next party.

The second party was Michelle Bradshaw’s birthday do (can’ tell you how old she is, coz that’s classified!). This was held at Jilly’s in Manchester, and despite the fact that my friends have been going there for year’s, it was actually my first time there. Needless to say my friends took the piss out of me, asking if I was going to ask the DJ to turn down the volume, but we had a good time, I had rather too much to drink (this is proven by the fact that I was actually up on the dance floor at one point), and I somehow manged to get home in one piece!

What’s an expansion pack?

This evening I was helping a friend out with her computer, when she asked me if I could work out why a computer game she had bought wasn’t working. After trying to start the application, and finding that it produced bizarre error messages, I read the back of the game’s case and immediately spotted why the game wasn’t working.

Turned out the game she’d bought was an expansion pack, and she hadn’t got the original game! Doh!

The joys of Scouting

Well tonight was the 1st time in the 4 years that I’ve been running Explorers, that I’ve had to send a lad home part way through the meeting. I just didn’t really appreciate a small object being thrown at my head! I think all the lads where surprised when I sent him home, as there was a bit of a shocked silence after I told him to leave!

Weekend almost over

Well the 1st weekend of the new site is almost over, and unfortunately I’ve not got anywhere near the number of things completed, that I had originally wanted. This was partially due to other commitments, like my brother Neil & his fiancee Rosie arriving, and also I had to release the latest version of the Alpenstock web site, which took slightly longer than planned.

The main item that is missing is the photo gallery. One of the main reasons for changing my web hosting company was too get more space, for all the photos I’ve taken, so I’m a bit disappointed that I’ve not got around to finding a decent photo gallery.

Anyway I’ve managed to sort out the movie review pages, the places I’ve been too page & the places I’ve lived, so we’re not doing too bad.

The plans for the next few weeks consist of installing the photo gallery, having a recent list of links added in the side bar, rather than all my current links, and then after all this is completed move the Marple Explorers Web Site onto this server. So all in all I should be fairly busy over the next few weeks…..although it might take longer!

1st Post

Well here we are, the all new prmarshall.com is now online. There should be several more changes over this weekend, as I get around to adding more and more stuff, but I though I ought to get this message out so you all know whats going on.

The main difference now, is that I’ve changed my web hosting provider. I’ve been using DC Hosting since 2001, but i’ve decided its now time for a change and have now found a new hosting service, parcom.net, which seem to offer a lot better service for not much more than it was costing me before. Anyway I guess only time will tell, but as this site isn’t visited by many people, I can’t imagine there being too many problems. ;-)

Have Fun
