My Travels

Well its certainly been an interesting 24 hours! Yesterday afternoon, my boss approached me and asked if I was up to anything important this weekend. Needless to say I was immediately suspicious, and immediately demanded why he wanted to know. It was then that he asked me if I would be willing to travel to Slovenia the next day, over the weekend, with me travelling back on Monday. After a lot of consideration, I agreed to the trip.. so here I am 24 hours later sitting in my hotel room in Slovenia!

The journey here was a bit exciting, almost didn’t make the flight as there was huge queues at 4.30am this morning at Manchester Airport, then spent 4 hours waiting at Munich airport for my connecting flight to Lubljana (probably spelt that wrong!), in Slovenia. Then it was an exciting taxi journey from the airport to the hotel, with the taxi driver seemingly determined to cause as many accidents as he possibly could in as short a space of time as possible!

Anyway, I’ve got nothing to do today, other than have a wander around Slovenia’s capital, get some food, and maybe have one or two drinks!

Gang Show

Well Gang Show is finally over for another year. As usual everybody has had a great time, loads of beer has been consumed and lots of songs have been sung! This year was slightly unusual in that I missed 2 1/2 shows, but I had good excuses for them all!

Now all I need to do, is to catch up on all that missed sleep!

Neil & Rosie’s Wedding

Neil & Rosie’s wedding took place in Nottingham today. The wedding was a very small affair with only immediate family and a few friends, but was a very enjoyable affair.

The wedding took place at the Registry office, where the Registrar managed to take the piss out of me during the service (and he didn’t even know me!). After the wedding we headed across the road to a restaurant, which has just been awarded a Michelin star, where we had a very nice meal, and the guests where kept suitably entertained by Neil’s friends, and by my own (well behaved) antics!

After they get back from their Honeymoon, there will be parties at both sets of Parents houses. Needless to say, i’ll have to be on best behaviour, but I’m sure I’ll be allowed several drinks at Mum & Dad’s party!

Travels

Well work has sent me to Holland for a few days (just before Gang Show kicks off, isn’t that good timing!). Everything was going smoothly, until everyone boarded the plane, when everything started going wrong.

First off they couldn’t reconcile the number of people on the plane, with their documentation (turned out technology failed them, as the one person who checked in online, wasn’t in their documentation!), and this delayed us for 15 mins, whilst they figured out what was going on. Then once all that had been resolved, the captain announces that due to fog at Amsterdam, we weren’t being allowed to take off, and would have to wait for 2 hours on the runway at Manchester! Now normally this would have upset me, but after only having 3 hours sleep before getting up at 4am this morning, I took the opportunity to sleep, and the 2 hours just disappeared!

Now all i can hope is that the journey back is less eventful on Thursday.

Site Update

At long last I’ve finally gotten around to sorting out the Photo Gallery for this site! This was one of the main reasons why i moved onto this new hosting facility in the first place, but its taken me until now to actually find the time to get it all sorted.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve upgraded the site to wordpress 2.1, fixed the links in the sidebar to only show the most recent links, sorted out the photo gallery, and fixed the movie review page.

Now all thats left is to upload the hundreds of photos i’ve got onto this site, and to figure out why google maps stopped working when i upgraded to wordpress 2.1…. which should keep me busy when I’ve got a couple of days holiday the week after next whilst Marple Gang Show is on.

More Babies!

And for the 3rd Baby announcement of the year (still 2 more to come this year!), my Auntie Christine has had her first child, Oliver Edward Collett. As my Mum was so kind to point out, by the time he reaches my age, I’ll be nearly sixty! Anyway congratulations to Auntie Christine, Uncle Johnathon and baby Oliver.
